New Job
March 24th, 2006As of sometime in May (depending on moving details), I will be joining the amazing folks at Adaptive Path. Seeing as even their founders have some disagreement about exactly what kind of company they are, I won’t even try to explain. I do, however, feel comfortable saying that it is truly my good fortune to have this opportunity. I think it’s also safe to say that there are few other companies out there where I could hope to take full advantage my interest and experience in design, research, and teaching. Officially, I’ll be one of their “practioners” — i.e. generalist design/research folks — though I believe the idea is that I may have a bit of an emphasis or specialization in research as time goes on.
So, to summarize: WOO HOO!
A Long Silence
March 21st, 2006It’s been almost a month since my last post. There have been many things afoot that have kept me very occupied. In the last month I have…
- Taken a great new job — more specifics on that in the near future
- Begun arrangements to move to the Bay Area
- Hosted two sets of out-of-town visitors
- Searched and searched and searched and, finally, found a place to rent — Hello Fruitvale!
- Cleaned and straightened and shown and, finally, sold our condo — Goodbye home ownership!
- Seen my daughter start sitting and moving about on her own — Hello childproofing!
- Begun the long string of farewell dinners — Goodbye dear friends!
Needless to say, I have had little time for thinking or writing about other things. It’s likely that I will continue to have little time for such things until after we have moved. Please be patient, though. I have a bunch of essays in draft form that I will be trying to finish and post as soon as I have time.
